Isabelle Rodker

Inspired by the profound healing potential of the arts, Isabelle Rodker has worked as a Dramatherapist with a wide range of client groups in London, Wales and Cambodia.  From an early age, writing poetry, playing music and painting have been driving forces in her life.   Isabelle received a 2:1 Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama at Royal Holloway University of London, which led to her exploration of the use of theatre to promote social and personal change by directing plays with people with special needs, the elderly, offenders and the homeless.  As the obvious gains in self esteem were transformational, Isabelle was compelled to explore this avenue further, and completed with Commendation a post graduate Diploma in Dramatherapy at the University of Hertfordshire, followed by a Masters in Arts Therapy at the University of Hertfordshire, also with Commendation.  She discovered that creativity, as a tool, gave people the ability to change in ways that more conventional therapy failed to achieve.  Isabelle is currently undertaking training to become an accredited supervisor of practitioners in the healing professions.
Most recently, Isabelle has managed and facilitated Arts Therapy projects with the Ragamuffin Project in Wales, with Roundabout  in London and in Cambodia, where, in particular, she worked with victims of sex trafficking, women with HIV, children suffering from abuse and landmine victims.  From her experiences in Cambodia, Isabelle has developed a special interest in the benefits of combining Participatory Photography within the Arts Therapy process.
Isabelle loves living on her boat, hearing the water and times when life’s dark challenges are met with creativity, light and laughter.
Isabelle and Paula have developed a rich and dynamic working synergy, combining Paula’s Art Therapy with Isabelle’s Dramatherapy experience and their diverse cultural backgrounds to show that using the arts can reach across cultures, disciplines and borders.
